Our Calistoga Spa Resort

The storied history of Dr. Wilkinson’s Hot Springs Resort begins back in 1952 when we first opened our doors. Our founders, John “Doc” and Edy Wilkinson were inspired by the healing properties of Calistoga’s land—from its volcanic ash to mineral-rich springs—to build an oasis that celebrated Napa Valley and its natural bounty. If you have been to Calistoga, you have seen our sign!

Our Story

Doc and Edy Wilkinson’s shared desire to build our resort went beyond their love of Napa Valley’s landscape. Indeed, they wanted to share an important discovery. Using water from Calistoga’s geothermal wells and its ancient volcanic ash, they had created something truly magical—our signature mud bath. By combining these natural ingredients, along with Canadian peat moss, the Wilkinsons developed an innovative, all-natural treatment, which contained a wealth of minerals and soothing properties. Today, Dr. Wilkinson’s one-of-a-kind mud bath remains our most popular treatment. Since our debut in 1952, millions of guests have flocked to Calistoga to revel in its mineral-rich warmth. Add yourself to the resort’s storied history by joining us to luxuriate in our mud baths, mineral pools, and relaxation rooms.
